Art4Aid '08

Art4Aid has been run and won for 2008! Thanks to everyone who entered and congratulations to the winners. Check out the amazing work of 130 stirrers from across Australia!

Our 2008 Theme: Stop Child Labour

250 million children work to secure essential income for themselves and their families.

For us, ‘the poor and oppressed’ includes the 250 million children who work to secure essential income for themselves and their families, children traumatised by war, scarred by debt bondage, slavery or sexual exploitation.

Poverty, exploitation and violence are not inevitable. We called on artists across Australia to challenge the unjust structures that constrain the poor in a world of false priorities, gross inequalities and distorted values.

Our 2008 Categories were:

Art Prize & Exhibition (Students & Individuals u/26)

Art Prize & Exhibitions

We called all young painters, photographers, sculptors & fine artists - to use their skills to respond to the global need to Stop Child Labour. Their work was exhibited in Sydney in July and Melbourne in October.

Round 1 was won by Francesca from Bendigo, VIC
Round 2 was won by Sharlie from Montmorency, VIC

Tee-Shirt design (Indiv. U/26)

Design a tee!

We had some fantastic designers submit their designs to stir the world and those around them! Their challenge was to get the message out there about the four themes of a child's rights to love, freedom, protection; education, food and healthcare & play.

We thought Mel Gibb's design, called Flying Free, really rocked!
