STIR has been funded through the international aid agency World Vision of Australia.World Vision hopes to inform and challenge young Australians on the issue of global poverty. We believe that through community education we can help change the actions of individuals, governments and institutions in wealthy countries like Australia while equipping poorer nations with solutions to their immediate problems.
STIR wouldn't be possible without the energy and enthusiasm of Vision Generation - World Vision's national, volunteer youth movement.
Why Should I Stir?
Because if this is who we are... we can be so much better! We need to stir it up!
Because the randomness of where you are born shouldn't decide if you're going to see your 5th birthday. 11 Million children die every year before they are 5 years old. This is mostly due to easily preventable diseases like pneumonia, diarrhoea, measles and malaria. 54% of these deaths are attributed to malnutrition. 99% are in the world's lowest-income countries.
Because the greatest threat in our time is not terrorism! 800 million people are "terrified" about starving to death when they go to bed hungry every night.
Because previous generations have tried and failed to make a world of peace and equality for all of us to enjoy. Now it's up to us. We have the power, energy and passion to actually Make Poverty History.
How can I Stir the world?
Be informed.
Become a Stirrrer and subscribe to our monthly STIRMail, read through Stir and choose an issue or country that you're passionate about stirring. Knowledge is powerful.

Communicate.
Chatting with other Stirrers your own age in The Blender forum is an easy way of learning more and getting inspired. You can express yourself visually through our Art4Aid program. We've also got a whole stack of STIR social network sites for you to hook up with.
Act.
