Raise awareness about the Water and Sanitation issue by sending this Ecard to our country's political leaders and your local MP, friends and family.
Australia's current spending on vital water and sanitation aid projects in developing countries is around $147 Million. Sounds like a lot but.... we've spent a lot more on a lot less useful things like 5 Collins Class Submarines that don't even work properly. They cost the Australian taxpayer $4.5 Billion That's enough to build 37 Million toilets in Africa! Safe, clean toilets are what we need to help stop diseases like Diarrhoea which kills 2.2 Million people a year. AusAID should increase support in the Aid budget for water and sanitation projects to $350 Million in 2007/08 in order to reach our fair share of funding for this important area.
