Child Exploitation

Call And Response Movie Logo (250)

CALL+RESPONSE is a rockumentary that reveals the world’s 27 million dirtiest secrets: there are more slaves today than ever before in human history. It brings to life the issue of Child Exploitation so well that we want to invite you to some FREE Pre-Screenings this September.

Children in poor countries are often the victims of exploitation. Instead of going to school or playing, they might have to:

  • work - sometimes in dangerous conditions
  • fight in armed conflicts
  • or even be sexually exploited

These all violate the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child. So how do children get into these situations? Sometimes even with their parents' knowledge or consent children can:

  • have no other choice eg: they must work to support themselves & their families
  • be taken by force
  • coerced into a legally binding contract

So, what's this Convention on the Rights of the Child all about?

The United Nation’s Convention on the Rights of the Child was adopted in 1989. It proclaims that all children have the right to survival, the right to food, the right to family, the right to cultural and indigenous identity and the right to education.

For us, ‘the poor and oppressed’ includes the 250 million children who work to secure essential income for themselves and their families, children traumatised by war, scarred by debt bondage, slavery or sexual exploitation.

Poverty, exploitation and violence are not inevitable. We want you to challenge the unjust structures that constrain the poor in a world of false priorities, gross inequalities and distorted values.

World Vision has always been willing to take a stand when the rights of children are in danger.

Are you willing to stand with us?

Child Trafficking

Children often have little choice but to take a massive risk…

Imagine your family is so poor, so desperate to earn money that you trust someone who says they’ll take you to the city and give you a great job.

In poor communities children, or their parents, can be so desperate for money they have to believe these people who offer what looks like an opportunity to escape the poverty trap.

In other cases children are kidnapped or forced into exploitative situations, including commercial sex work or fighting as child soldiers in armed conflict.

You can help stop Child Exploitation!
